How I Painted the Emerald Lifeswarm.

Greetings and salutations fellow hobbyist!

Here is a guide on how I painted the Emerald Lifeswarm from the Malign Sorcery.

Step 1.

I started with priming the model with Corax White, applied Lustrian Undergrowth to the base, drybrushed over it with Warpglow Green and a lighter highlight of Moot Green. I did paint over the entire base with Caliban Green before applying the Lustrian Undergrowth.

Step 2.

I used two coats Kantor Blue on the main body of the flies, followed with 3 coats of Ironbreaker mixed with Konrad Kurze (tint).

For the wings I used 2 coats Waaagh! Flesh followed by 3 coats Ironbreaker mixed with Vulkan (tint).

I also used Turquise (for blue) ,Green (for green) Ink and applied two coats of Ironbreaker with the respective colours.

Note that is you do have the Tint set from Games Workshop (currently only available through direct order), you can use either blue or green ink and highlight it with a lighter blue or green mixed with some Ironbreaker.

Step 3.

For the skull I used two coats of Zandri Dust, a wash of Agrax Earthshade, reapplication of Zandri Dust and a highlight of Ushabti Bone.

Step 4.

For the smoke coming out of the skull I started with two coats of Celestra Grey and followed it with three coats of Ulthuan Grey.

Four coats of Guilliman Blue was carefully applied, it was highlighted with Teclis Blue, then a extreme highlight of Calgar Blue and finally Drakenhof Nightshade was applied in the recesses to create some depth.

Step 5.

For the eyes on the flies I carefully applied Stormhost Silver and covered it with Spiritstone Red.

Step 6.

For the final part I picked out some green static grass and Summer Undergrowth from the Army Painter

Here are some pictures of the finished model :

Remember that experience is the only thing that can not be taught.
