How I Painted the Guardian of Souls.

Greetings and salutations fellow hobbyist!

Here is a guide on how I painted the Guardian of Souls from the Nighthaunts.

Step 1.

After priming the model with Corax White spray from Citadel I applied two coats of White Scar with a small layer brush to the flame coming from the torch. After that I carefully used Lamenters Yellow glaze mixed with Lahmian Medium with a medium glaze brush, do note that it will take several coats to get it even, then Seraphim Sepia was used in the recesses of the flame the medium glaze brush. As to highlight the flames I used Averland Sunset, Yriel Yellow and Flash Gitz Yellow with a small layer brush, followed with a Kalinski Masterclass for the final highlights.

Step 2.

For the cloak I started with two coats Celestra Gray and gave it several washes of Haxwraith Flame mixed with Lahmian Medium with a medium glaze brush, a highlight of Gauss Blaster Green was applied with the Kalinsky Masterclass brush.

Step 3.

For the armour, mask, hilt and lantern I applied two coats Brassy Brass  and another two coats of Bright Bronze with a small layer brush, finally Nuln Oil was generously added with a medium glaze brush.

 Step 4.

The sword and rails where painted with two coats of Leadbelcher with small layer brush, followed with a wash of Nuln oil and then two coats of Ironbreaker with the small layer brush.

Step 5.

The skin on the hands where painted with Ionrach Skin using Kalinsky Masterclass and given a wash of Reikland Flesh shade with a glaze medium brush. Deepkin Flesh was used as a highlight using the Kalinsky Masterclass.

The skulls on the base was painted using two coats Zandri Dust, followed with two coats of Ushabti Bone and a wash of Agrax Earthshade. Two more coats of Ushabti Bone where applied and then highlighted with Screaming Skull.

The stone work was painted with three coats XV-88, followed by another three coats of Karak Stone and a generous wash of Agrax Earthshade.

Step 6.

When it came to the details I used Nihilakh Oxide (I'll also admit some problems getting to cover properly) on the brass parts, Stirland Battlemire followed with Blood for the Blood God was used for the base and you might want to paint a little red where you put the Blood gunk for it to show better.
Finally Light Rust pigment was used on the gunmetal parts to give it some age.

Here are some pictures of the finished model.

Remember that experience is the only thing that can not be taught.
